Menter Gorllewin Sir Gâr is one of three Menter Iaith organisations in Carmarthenshire and has been active in its current form since 2007 when Menter Taf Myrddin and Menter Bro Teifi formed to create a single entity across the area. While our main office is located in Newcastle Emlyn, our second office is within The Atom, a Welsh language centre in the heart of Carmarthen town.

We operate over the Western Carmarthenshire area stretching from the Pendine coast in the south, up to the Teifi Valley in the north which forms a natural county boundary with Ceredigion, and from Carmarthen town to the uplands of Llanllwni and Pencader mountains in the east down to the country boundary of Pembrokeshire in the west.

A number of projects are also operated across the Western region subject to specific agreements and contracts.

 

Our mission is, therefore, to develop and increase the use of Welsh within the area within all aspects of life with children, young people, families, the community, businesses and organisations. To help achieve this goal we work closely with a number of different partners.
